SEO success is always teamwork, and at Talk Home, I worked closely with the entire team to achieve an impressive milestone. I led the technical and content strategy to enhance the site structure, content quality, and overall user experience.

Background

Project: Talk Home (previously talkhome.co.uk, now talk-home.com)
Industry: Telecommunications/Mobile Top-Ups
Initial Situation: Low-medium organic traffic, poor indexing, and weak on-site SEO
Goal: Increase organic traffic sustainably without relying on backlink campaigns

Challenges Faced

We faced multiple challenges together:

  • Technical SEO issues causing poor crawlability and indexing
  • Weak content structure and outdated strategy
  • Limited site architecture affecting user experience
  • No backlink strategy — focusing solely on on-page SEO

Strategy Implemented

We started by auditing the site, analyzing competitors, and uncovering key issues and opportunities — then crafted a focused strategy.

1. Technical SEO Fixes

We identified and prioritized technical issues. I personally resolved crawl errors, improved canonical tags, and enhanced site speed and mobile usability.

Schemas were also missing in product pages and blog posts. We created relevant schemas, which resulted in our favor, enhancing the rankings of several keywords.

2. Content Optimization and Expansion

We redefined the content strategy based on keyword research and user intent. We improved existing content, removed old irrelevant stuff, and created new valuable articles targeting relevant topics.

  • We removed nearly 100 low-quality posts that offered no real value and diluted our topical authority. These articles were off-niche and negatively impacting our relevance in the telecom space.
  • To rebuild momentum, we initially applied the Keyword Golden Ratio (KGR) technique to gain early traction with low-competition, high-intent keywords.
  • We started publishing two highly relevant articles each day to build authority in the telecom niche.
  • Most of the topics were focused on our products and answered common user questions. This also gave us the chance to naturally link back to important product pages and boost their visibility.
  • To deliver high-quality, relevant content to our readers, we expanded our content team — one of the best strategic decisions we made during the entire process.

3. Site Architecture and Internal Linking

We improved the site architecture and used clear, relevant anchor texts to optimize internal linking and distribute page authority more effectively.

4. No Off-Page Backlink Efforts

It’s important to note that this significant growth was achieved entirely without any off-page backlink building — the focus was purely on on-site SEO improvements and content quality.

5– News Section

To showcase the brand’s dominance, we launched the news section and kept the audience updated with the latest and trendy telecom news.

Results Achieved

  • Organic traffic increased from a few thousand to over 150,000 visits per month within 12 months
  • Strong improvement in keyword rankings across targeted terms
  • Better indexing and crawlability by Google leading to consistent growth
  • Enhanced user engagement metrics such as longer time-on-page and reduced bounce rate
