Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string (hash) created from your email may be sent to Gravatar to check if you use their service. After approval, your profile picture is publicly visible with your comment.

Media

If you upload images, avoid those with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors can extract this information.

Cookies

  • If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These last for one year.
  • A temporary cookie is set on the login page to check if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
  • When you log in, cookies store login details and screen preferences. Login cookies last two days, while screen options cookies last a year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends login persistence to two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.
  • Editing or publishing an article saves an additional cookie, which expires after one day.
